“If life gives you tangerines”: Netflix K-drama stars speak to CNN

In the drama “If Life gives you Tangerinas”, which debuted on Friday (06) on Netflix, there is a time when the protagonist Ae-soon recalls a phrase that her mother said: “It is better to be born cow than a woman in fasting.”

Netflix’s new production takes place on the island of Jeju, South Korea, from the 1950s, when the main characters were born. In the plot, Ae-Soon dreams of moving on his small town where there are not many opportunities, especially for women.

She dreams of being a poet and financially stable far away. However, his connection with childhood friend Gwan-Sik, played by Park Bo-Guum, makes her reconsider her choices.

In an interview with CNN Iu and park bo-gum told what it was like to interpret the thrilling scenes of the production. While there is a lot of comedy, the public can expect dramatic scenes as well.

“Thanks to the screenwriter’s ability, we were able to focus well on the roles of Ae-Sono and Gwan-Sik,” said Park Bo-Gum. “We worked to express the characters well, and, above all, the IU, who interpreted Ae-soon, brought to life a character with emotions like a roller coaster.”

The actor praised the scenemate and confessed that his interpretation helped him connect totally with his character, facilitating the transmission of love and affection between them.

About the crying scenes, Iu revealed that he doesn’t need much time to recompose herself after the director announced “Cut!”.

“I don’t know how it was for Bo-Gum, but I can quickly get out of this kind of emotion,” he admits. “Just following the script and read the already sad lines, the tears came naturally. But as soon as the scene was over, I could go back to my normal state without difficulty. ”
