If salary readjust happens, it should only be for Revenue and Police, says Economy source

Amid pressure from employees of the Central Bank, the Federal Revenue and the National Treasury for a salary readjustment, the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, evaluates, in internal conversations with his team, that granting a salary increase would be ‘taking the pin out of the grenade’. .

According to an assistant to the minister, the two careers with priority for the readjustment, if any, would be the servers of the Federal Revenue Service and the police.

This Wednesday (30), the Secretary of the National Treasury, Paulo Valle, stated that the budgetary space for salary readjustments of federal servants is R$ 1.7 billion. The folder works with the June deadline for resolving the issue.

Last week, the Special Secretary for the Treasury and Budget of the Ministry of Economy, Esteves Colnago, said that in order to release the amount foreseen in the budget for the readjustment of servers, the government needs Congress to approve the PLN (Bill) 1/2022. “The need is R$ 2.5 billion. So I need to approve PLN 1 for R$ 1.7 billion and there is still the difference to rebuild the staff”, he explained at the time.

The pressure from the Treasury, Revenue and Central Bank employees for a readjustment increased after the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, spoke about granting a restructuring of the police career. This Wednesday, the president of the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU), Ana Arraes, defended that the servers of the supervisory body are also covered, if there are readjustments for other careers.

According to the National Union of Employees of the Central Bank (Sinal), public servants of the BC will go on strike, indefinitely, as of April 1st.

Among the services that should be affected, the institution’s servers highlight Pix, the distribution of coins and banknotes, the dissemination of the Focus bulletin and various fees, the operation of the Brazilian Payment System (SPB) and the Demab trading desk. In the same vein, Unacon Sindical, which represents civil servants in the areas of finance and control of the Treasury, foresees two stoppages in activities: Friday, April 1st, and on Tuesday, April 5th.
