The Prince Harry accomplishes 39 years old and the royal family is silent, at least in public. It did not arrive from the social media accounts of Buckingham Palace and those of the Princes of Wales no message this year for the Duke of Sussex, as had happened so far, also in 2020 and 2021, after the Megxit earthquake.
The silence of 2022, however, is understandable: Queen Elizabeth had died just a week ago and the royal family was occupied with much else, with the Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages entirely monopolized by her memory. This year’s silence, however, has completely different reasons. On the one hand it makes you wonder why tells of the abysmal distance that exists at this moment between Harry and his family of origin. The Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan it upset more of the balance, but it was Spare, the prince’s memoir, to give the final blow to an already compromised relationship. On the other hand, however, it seems more than obvious: Harry is no longer a senior royal, that is, he no longer works actively for the House of Windsor, so he has been equated with all the other “minor” royals of the family, by Prince Andrew of York, forced to retire to private life after the Epstein scandal, to his daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, who never entered the circle of the elected due to their distance from the line of succession, up to his cousin Zara Phillips, who essentially leads the life of a private citizen, thus as well as his family.
The only ones who are remembered on their birthday are the King and Queen, the Princess Royal Anna, and the Duke of Edinburgh together with his wife the Duchess Sophie. Then there are the Princes of Wales and their three sons, George, 10 years, Charlotte8, e Louis, 5. The silence of the royal family, in short, would be a question of mere protocol, also considering the latest gossip about Charles III and his second son. The king would be working to rebuild a relationship with Harry, but away from gossip. And the much talked about meeting on September 17th which was probably talked about a few weeks ago it won’t happen.
Charles III is about to leave for an official trip to France and it now seems unlikely that he will be able to have a face-to-face meeting with his son, who after the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf will return to California with Meghan Markle. Without passing through London.
