There are 448,596 children currently hospitalized in Italian hospitals who will receive “a bit of magic” thanks to Lego in these weeks of preparation for Christmas. For the eighth consecutive year, the Danish group has arranged for each of them to donate sets and minifigures with the aim of inviting them to play together with their families, and thus brighten their days in one of the most precious periods of the year .
To put its project into practice, Lego avails itself of the collaboration of ABIO Italia ETS Foundation for the child in hospital, historic organization that helps children overcome the stress of hospitalization by playing, listening, smiling and that will bring gifts to the hospitals where it is active every day.
«We are really proud to still be alongside LEGO Italia for the #BuildToGive campaign», he commented Eugenio Bernardi, vice president of the ABIO Italia ETS Foundation. «The LEGO bricks that we will bring to the departments will be a perfect gift for families who are experiencing hospitalization, because playing is fun, unites and also has a positive effect on the treatment process».
Together with LEGO Group ea ABIO Italia ETS Foundationthis year there will also be Hearth4Children, a social promotion association that works to support children. «Thanks to the campaign #BuildToGiveeach brick becomes a gesture of love that brings us closer to a kinder and more attentive world”, said the professor Enrico Facco, president of Heart4Children. «Play is a caress that alleviates suffering, giving children an oasis of peace and hope even in the most difficult moments».
After all, playing is the most important gesture for every child: it develops creativity, imagination, problem solving and rational thinking. And not only that. Families who play together are happier, as underlined by recent research conducted by the LEGO Group which wanted to title the Christmas campaign Give the gift of gaming superpower.
«For the LEGO Group, the magic of Christmas is inextricably linked to the creativity of children. This is why we want each of them to always be able to play and dream”, he explained Marco Capone, General Manager LEGO Italy.
An invitation for all families

The LEGO Group’s message takes on an even broader scope. With the countryside #BuiltToGivefamilies from all over the world are invited to make a heart with bricks: no matter the size or the color. What matters is building it with loved ones and posting it on social media with the hashtag #BUILDTOGIVE.
The goal is ambitious: to invade the Internet with thousands and thousands of LEGO® hearts, like a river of joy and love.
Games and smiles for 9 million children

The initiative **#BuiltToGive **launched by LEGO was born in 2017 and has supported in recent years more than 9 million children worldwide. This eighth edition, which began on November 12th, will end on December 31st.
For those who want to build hearts even in company, just go in LEGO Stores from all over Italy: they will host adults and children who want to participate in this special initiative.
