The General Price Index-10 (IGP-10) slowed its rise to 1.18% in March, after advancing 1.98% in the previous month, under the influence of the cooling of producer inflation, which has not yet felt the recent adjustment up in domestic fuel prices.
The data released this Wednesday (16) by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) led the index accumulated in 12 months to a high of 14.63%. It also fell short of a Reuters poll forecast of a 1.27% increase.
“The fuel readjustment, a sub-item with a prominent weight in the IGP family indices, did not influence the behavior of this edition of the IGP-10, whose collection period ended on March 10th”, said André Braz, coordinator of the indices, in a note. of prices.
Last Thursday (10th), Petrobras announced an increase in diesel prices by around 25% at its refineries, in addition to an increase of almost 19% in gasoline, in the wake of gains in oil prices on the international market due to the war in Ukraine.
Without considering the rise in domestic prices for these products, the Broad Producer Price Index (IPA), which measures the change in wholesale prices and accounts for 60% of the general index, rose 1.44% in March after a jump of 2.51% in February.
“The main sources of pressure on the IPA were soybeans (7.32% to 8.75%), whose price continues to rise, and eggs (-0.12% to 20.62%), reflecting the seasonal effects of that time. of the year”, said Braz.
For the consumer, the pressure increased, with the Consumer Price Index (IPC-10), which accounts for 30% of the general index, accelerating the rise to 0.47% in March, from 0.39% in the previous month.
The main contribution to this result came from the Food group, which accelerated the rise to 1.54% this month, from 1.09% previously.
The National Construction Cost Index (INCC), in turn, rose 0.34% in the period, after rising 0.61% in February.
The IGP-10 calculates producer, consumer and civil construction prices between the 11th of the previous month and the 10th of the reference month.
