IGP-DI drops 0.55% in August, reflecting drop in fuel prices, says FGV

The General Index of Prices-Internal Availability (IGP-DI) fell 0.55% in August, compared to a drop of 0.38% in the previous month, informed the Brazilian Institute of Economics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (Ibre/FGV), this Thursday. thursday (8).

As a result, the indicator accumulates a high of 6.84% in the year and 8.67% in 12 months. In August 2021, the index had fallen by 0.14% and accumulated a high of 28.21% in 12 months.

“Fossil fuels were decisive for the deceleration of inflation for producers and consumers”, says André Braz, coordinator of the Price Indexes, in an official note.

In the IPA, gasoline dropped 8.83%, reflecting the reductions in the price of this fuel at the refinery, where it is free of taxes and freight. In the CPI, the price of gasoline fell 11.62%, due to the reduction of ICMS and prices at the refinery, highlights the specialist.
