IGP-DI rises again in December and closes 2022 with a 5% increase, shows FGV

The General Price-Internal Availability Index (IGP-DI) rose again in December under the weight of food and ended the year with an accumulated increase of around 5%, informed the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) this Friday (6 ).

The index rose 0.31% in December, after falling 0.18% in the previous month, but the result was below the expectation in a Reuters poll for an advance of 0.5%.

As a result, the IGP-DI ended 2022 with an accumulated advance of 5.03%, against 17.74%% in 2021.

“The last edition of the 2022 IGP-DI shows acceleration in the prices of important foodstuffs for producers and consumers”, highlighted André Braz, coordinator of price indices.

In the month, the Extended Producer Price Index (IPA-DI), which accounts for 60% of the general indicator, rose 0.32%, after a 0.43% drop in the previous month, closing the year with an accumulated increase of 4 .7%.

Braz points out that, among the foods in the IPA, the biggest increases were registered in beef (from -1.65% to 2.57%), coffee (from -16.66% to 5.19%) and beans (from 4 .62% ​​to 13.18%).

The pressure for the consumer in December eased as the Consumer Price Index (IPC) — which accounts for 30% of the IGP-DI — slowed down to 0.35% in the period, from 0.57% in November. In the accumulated of 2022, the CPI rose 4.28%.

Transport (0.92% to -0.07%) and Food (1.06% to 0.73%) recorded a decrease in rates, but among foodstuffs, pressured the general index of carioca beans (from -1.57% to 6 .93%) and soybean oil (-0.69% to 1.49%).

The National Construction Cost Index (INCC), in turn, registered a deceleration from the high to 0.09% in December, from 0.36% before, ending 2022 with an accumulated increase of 9.28%.
