The II International Expo of Black Consciousness takes place in the city of São Paulo on the 18th, 19th and 20th, at Expo Center Norte.
The event takes place in partnership with the Municipal Secretariat of International Relations (SMRI).
The purpose of the action is to promote the debate on structural racism, with musical attractions, commercial and institutional stands, in addition to an exhibition area.
In an interview with CNN Radio on CNN No Plural, SMRI professor and project manager Elaine Gomes de Lima, who is the project’s curator, stated that the fight against racism requires a welcoming process.
“It is necessary to prepare the schools, in the curricular base, we know all the prejudices and concepts that exist, the child is not born racist, he learns to be racist”, he added.
According to the teacher, this “requires routine and compliance with legislation”: “We are fighting for this, as a woman, citizen and teacher, I feel the prejudice.”
“Students ask if I’m the teacher, they themselves have prejudices, it’s a daily struggle”, she added.
Elaine reinforced that the month of celebration “is not just November, but every day, this is what I learned and I want to show this to our generation”, she concluded.
