Ikea announced on Wednesday (15) more steps to reduce its business in Russia and Belarus.
In a statement, the Swedish furniture and decoration company recalls that on March 3 it had already decided to pause its operations in both countries, as a result of the war in Ukraine.
“Unfortunately, circumstances have not improved and the devastating war continues”, says the company, which cites impacts on production chains around the world and that, in this context, does not believe it will be possible to resume operations soon.
Ikea says its retail business in these countries will remain on hold and the workforce will be reduced.
To support the process of downsizing the operation, the group plans to sell its inventory of household items in Russia.
Imports and exports of Ikea products to and from Russia and Belarus will be stopped, the text adds, and purchasing and logistics offices will be closed.
