Furniture manufacturer IKEA has introduced new smart home devices – Starkvind air purifiers. One model is floor standing, the other is built into a coffee table.

Both models contain three filters that help clean the air from large particles such as hair and dust, smaller particles of 2.5 micrometers (1/400 millimeter), harmful substances such as formaldehyde and unpleasant odors.
Starkvind does not include the features and technologies of more expensive devices from Dyson and Mila, however, through the IKEA Home app, you can control the fan speed (five levels in total) or enable automatic mode, which relies on a built-in sensor that adjusts the fan speed depending on the number of particles in air, you can check the readings in the application. You can also schedule the fan to run through the app.
Two colors are available: black and white. The floor-standing model costs $ 129, the built-in coffee table model costs $ 169. In addition, you need to purchase access to the smart home system for $ 35 to control the purifier through the application. Starkvind sales in physical and online IKEA stores will begin in October this year.
