Love for one’s land, the desire to revive empty spaces, but above all a strong attention to social and environmental sustainability. These are the ingredients of the project Il Bisonte with Painted Gardens (which even in the name conceals a desire to share values and ideas) born from the collaboration between the Tuscan leather goods brand and Painted Gardens, unique urban garden within an area protected by Unesco, located in Borgo Pinti, in the heart of the historic center of Florence.
The green oasis was born from a void, an athletics track abandoned for decades and discovered with Google Maps. To mend this caesura between the city and its spaces, and between the green and the built it was Giacomo Salizzoni, a young architect (from Bologna, but a naturalized Florentine) who ten years ago brought wood and earth, seeds and rare plants, trees and vegetables, children, families and the elderly to that track and gave everyone something to do. In a short time that space was transformed into a permanent laboratory of good environmental practices where circular economy, teaching, sharing are the seeds that thrive there.
«Il Bisonte with Painted Gardens – says Giacomo Salizzoni – was born from an elective affinity: from the first meeting with Luigi Ceccon (To de Il Bisonte) and with his team I realized that what I do at Orti Dipinti and what Il Bisonte does in its very short supply chain have an incredible amount of things in common. This is why we did not call the project “Il Bisonte for Painted Gardens”, but “Il Bisonte con Orti Dipinti”. We are working and will continue to work together for a long time, pouring into the garden and into the company shared convictions and ideas of social and environmental sustainability. For this reason, the first to be involved were the employees of Il Bisonte ».
So many initiatives in the pipeline, including the construction of a large greenhouse which will allow you to carry out the educational activities for children and adults. But not only. In addition to a significant economic investmentthe partnership provides an important contamination of skills thanks to which the Painted Gardens will be able to equip themselves with management self-sufficiency tools and Il Bisonte will be able to give a new impulse to its natural vocation for sustainability. But that’s not all, because at Orti Dipinti, the brand presented its new collections of bags and accessories of leather goods of the season SS23, designed to maintain their beauty over the years and created with sustainable raw materials, such as the iconic vegetable-tanned cowhide leather and the new bio-tanned cowhide (recyclable and compostable), cotton yarns, two-tone raffia and waterproof nylon.
