Nobody gave me anything, that’s for sure.
And if I’m proud of where I got, it’s not so much for the role I hold but because I never forget where I started from, that is, from the most disadvantaged conditions in the universe. I am convinced that there are randomness, obstacles, fortunes, misfortunes, coincidences, a thousand things that we do not control, and at the same time I believe that each of us is the architect of his own destiny.
But the most incredible thing is that there is still someone who thinks I owe it all to Big Brother.
The truth is that if I did it it wasn’t thank you al Big Brother ma despite the Big Brother.
The success, the affection of the people, the popularity lasted how long? Two, three years. Which was followed by almost twenty insults, prejudices, offenses, blocked roads. If for a while to be pointed out on the street as “Rocco del Big Brother”For me meant adrenaline, joy, a kind of daydream, all this then turned into an indelible mark of infamy.
Even today, the Big Brother It’s mine Scarlet Letter. Reason for amazement, scandal, excuse to massacre and offend me endlessly, on the web, everywhere.
Without considering that, now, I realize what laceration that participation meant for me. Above all having to manage a homosexuality which was evident to everyone but me.
The first time I entered the ocean liner after the 2018 election, the MPs all turned with great contempt. I was able to read the lip of Nunzia De Girolamo – with whom I would later make friends – who said: “But this one of Big Brother, but what a shame he is here. ‘ Then it’s funny, I say it without irony and without harshness, today I am the spokesman for the premier and she does television.
Every time I walked through Parliament there were these looks filled with contempt, bewilderment, haughty scandal and disapproval. “How did we fall low, huh?”
Let’s not talk about when I set foot at the Quirinale …
The thought – expressed and unexpressed – was always: “How is this refusal of society allowed to become someone, to mix with us elected by the people, to deal authoritatively with parliamentarians? ”.
It’s not just in Italy, even if it’s the worst here.
It seems that all the garbage we are surrounded by is nothing in front of the Big Brother.
Twenty years have passed, I had another life, I did a million things, even important ones, I worked, studied. It is I who wonder with immense amazement how it is possible that all this disappears in the face of the fact that two decades ago, when I was twenty-eight, I was locked up for three months – just three months – in a house with other kids on a TV show. Okay, I did three months in a resort. I took a three month cruise. I stayed in a pool villa with friends for three months and did some introspection work as well. For me it means this. How is it possible for people to continue to have all this meaning? How is it that I still have to feel all this shame about myself? How is it possible that this, and only this, still defines me as a person today? How is it possible that in the Parliament of the Italian Republic political leaders (who among other things spend their whole life on TV) infamous me with references to Big Brother? It is something that makes me suffer a lot.
