A disagreement between a customer and a delivery man went viral on social media. The confusion was recorded by the motoboy himself, Breno Caetano, during a delivery, last Sunday night (26), in the neighborhood of Leblon, in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro.
At the time, the resident went down to pick up the order in the hall of the building where she lives, opened the package with the order, but reportedly refused to inform the delivery man of a numerical code requested by the delivery application to complete the service. From the refusal, Breno starts recording the service with his own cell phone.
In the recording, it is possible to see that tempers flare and the motoboy says: “you are stealing the product”. The woman calls an employee of the building and asks that the police be called. In the footage, the client still argues that she is not required to report the code.
The press office of the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro says that the corporation did not respond to this occurrence, but Breno told the CNN that the police were at the scene and said that they could not intervene in this case.
Still according to the motoboy, the woman accused him of physical aggression, slander and invasion of property. He denies all accusations and says that images from security cameras in the condominium can prove her version.
The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro says that the client, identified as Ana Fefer, was at the 14th DP, in Leblon, this Monday (27th), when she registered the occurrence, but chose not to file criminal charges against the delivery man. According to the police, the fact reported does not constitute a criminal offence.
Breno reported to CNN who has been working as a delivery person for about six months and, since last November, has been registered on the IFood platform. This was the first time he had been involved in such a mess while on the job.
The 18-year-old is from Baixada Fluminense and moved to the capital in 2022 to work and save money to attend university. Breno intends to study nutrition and physical education.
“That day, I turned off the app and went home. I’m scared to make deliveries. Here in Rio de Janeiro, whoever has money has power. I’m working on the back foot, driving close to home”, said Breno to CNN .
IFood clarifies that the delivery validation code is a security measure for both customers and couriers. Depending on the platform, the code must be passed by customers to the courier or courier at the time of delivery of the order.
The report tried to contact Ana Fefer, but did not get a response so far.
