«I’m Lillo», with Lillo Petrolo: «Posaman is like mom»

Drumroll. It comes up Prime Videos (from January 5th) I’m Lillothe TV series born from the unexpected success of Posaman. And who does not remember it in LOL? After conquering hordes of children and adults, Amazon decides to build the series with the nerd superhero and Lilloits creator.

It was difficult to create a product starring a superhero who conquered the public for his poses and stops. The dilemma was how to develop a story around that character. «We have created a story with the true Lillo actor that is catapulted into a microcosm that is not mine», Lillo Petrolo tells us. «The protagonist is an actor like me who hasn’t had the good fortune to have a full career like mine: he is in fact a prisoner of a single character who has given him success, Posaman precisely”.

How does this unique success live? Bad. He blames Posaman for the end of his marriage to his wife Marzia (Sara Lazzaro) and will do everything to do away with that mask that now obsessed him. “It’s actually a way of telling stories reality and problems in an amusing way that happen to everyone», says Lillo, «basically we tell stories the identity crisis and the insecurities of a man. And everything that is insecurity and crisis easily becomes comical». “The Italian comedy has always taught us this: the most ironic moments arise from the most dramatic situations”, he adds Paolo Calabresiin the role of Agenor, one of the most surreal characters of the series together with Saints (Marco Marzocca). They are two friends of Lillo’s who just can’t help him despite his efforts.

Posaman is a superhero in full crisisthe. And it is not the first: it has also happened to the older ones. «I’ve always been a fan of comics», says Lillo, «as a child I was attracted by the superheroes who fell into deep crises like Batman and Spider-Man. I’ve never loved too much Superman, although I admit that some good sagas have been written about him. Maybe because Batman and Spider-Man felt closer to normal men». «For the series», he continues, «the idea of ​​playing a fascinated me super-man full of problemsbecause it was also interesting from a comic point of view ».

When you create a character you don’t know where he will take you, you just think about how to entertain, not how to entertain the widest possible audience. It is unthinkable for an author.
