I’m not afraid: Ernia’s new album and maturity

He is one of the most original voices on the current music scene. Herniaborn Matteo Professione, a twenty-nine year old Milanese artist, returns with a new album which focuses on fear, understood as anxiety, in all its forms. I’m not afraid (Island Records), whose title is inspired by the famous and beautiful novel by Niccolò Ammaniti, is made up of fourteen tracks that speak to everyone, but above all speak about him. “I’m not afraid is a way to build strength”, writes on Instagram. Because fears are everywhere, it’s hard to talk about them, and it takes courage and strength, but also a lot of lucidity to recognize and face them. From the big issues that involve everyone, such as the climate crisis, economic instability, hatred on social media, to the more personal ones of a generation that shuns monotony, which does not feel adequate, which is afraid of making mistakes, which thinks doesn’t deserve what he has. Up to getting personal about her: Hernia hits the listener like a slap Good night, the song that talks about an interruption of pregnancy, with all the burdens and doubts that follow. Ernia writes a letter to an unborn child putting himself completely naked, touching the emotional chords of the listener, without forgetting to tell the difficulty that arises in front of those in our country who have to make such a difficult choice. While she on the radio she resonates Nice rip off, Ernia returns demonstrating that his style is made up of mixtures and research, which find its origins in the hip hop of the early 2000s, calling important collaborations by his side. From Marco Mengoni in Everyone is afraidto Gue Pequeno and Gaia for Half was enough, Psalm for Bad intentions, Rkomi for Something missing And Geolier in Tonic water. It is her maturity album, it is her album that proves that the 14 platinum records accumulated were only the beginning of a career on the rise. Fans are waiting for the live dates.
