“I’m Still Here” raises R$1.1 million in its debut in Brazil

I’m Still Here “, new film by Walter Salles and Brazilian representative to the Oscar for Best International Film 2025 made a big debut in theaters. According to the B Moviea portal specialized in the cinema market in the country, production with Fernanda Torres raised R$1.1 million in its national debut .

The website also highlighted that the film brought 50,320 spectators to cinemas . The last Brazilian productions to reach the top at the box office were “ Nosso Lar 2 – Os Mensageiros “, released in January, and “ Os Farofeiros 2 “, in March.

“I’m Still Here” is Brazil’s representative in the dispute for a nomination for the 2025 Oscar. The film is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Marcelo Rubens Paiva. The story takes place in the 1970s, during the most intense period of the military dictatorship in Brazil, and follows the trajectory of the Paiva family, made up of Rubens (played by Selton Mello), Eunice (played by Fernanda Torres) and their children.

The family’s life is completely transformed when, on one fateful day, Rubens Paiva is taken by undercover soldiers and disappears without a trace.
