The actor Selton Mello 51, spoke about the experience of playing Rubens Paiva in the film “I’m Still Here” in his new autobiography entitled “I Remember”.
“It was very exciting to play Rubens Paiva, to give life to this character who we don’t know what happened after he was taken from that house. He is the Sun of the film. It’s the only time we get to know this complete family”, wrote Selton Mello.
In the book, released by Jambô Editora, the actor reflects on his 40-year career through questions asked by a series of personalities, such as Fernanda Montenegro and Fernanda Torres – who starred with him in Walter Salles’ film –, Matheus Nachtergaele – who stars in “O Auto da Compadecida 2” alongside Selton –, Lázaro Ramos, Marjorie Estiano, Jeferson Tenório, Fábio Assunção, among others.
“I’m Still Here”, directed by Walter Salles, is an adaptation of Marcelo Rubens Paiva’s autobiographical book about his own father, Rubens Paiva, a federal deputy who was arrested and killed during the military dictatorship in 1971, in Rio de Janeiro.
In the plot, the author’s mother, Eunice Paiva, needs to change her routine completely after her husband is exiled. The housewife is forced to become a human rights activist after the disappearance of Rubens Paiva.
