On a “surprise” visit to Halki Theological School, proceeded the Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglou, on Saturday 22/5, as broadcast by SKAI.
This visit was essentially an excursion since Imamoglou went to Halki with his wife and without associates.
The couple, dressed in jeans and sweatshirts, were welcomed by Professor, Theophilestatos Bishop of Arabissos Mr. Cassianos.
During their meeting in the Ceremony Hall of the School, the Professor spoke to the Mayor of the City about the history of the School and its importance for the Ecumenical Patriarchate, but also about the current context of its action and operation.
Imamoglou showed great interest in the Theological School, expressed his admiration and expressed the view that it is one of the most important and historical monuments of the city.
After the discussion he had with the Professor, the Mayor and his entourage were guided to the naidrio, the classrooms, the historical library and the other premises of the School.
