Imma Tataranni 2: formula that wins you do not change

It took us at least ten years before we saw women in a prominent role on television and, judging by the titles produced by our local fiction in the last year and a half, it seems that, finally, something has changed. Captains, commissioners, social workers and district attorneys are slowly conquering the scene without overdoing it, while retaining some flaws in the development, such as slightly forced accents, at times false, and poorly outlined psychological profiles, but, on the other hand, as the divas who sipped martinis together with breakfast shortbreads said: you can’t have everything . One of the few figures to meet all the requirements and to have entered the hearts of the spectators without having their backs covered by a well-known face was But Tataranni, the deputy prosecutor based in Matera who, partly due to the skill of Vanessa Scalera, exceptional in snatching a smile without renouncing the melancholy enclosed in his lived gaze, and a little for an unconventional look, definitely far from the rigidity to which the figure of the attorney has accustomed us, has managed to make everyone agree.

With her character complexity, that strength that now pushes her to act for the good of herself and now leads her to prefer the family while not feeling the same feeling for her husband (Massimiliano Gallo) as once, Imma Tataranni is the perfect example of the alpha woman who engages with all her strength in work while it is hard not to fall apart within the walls of the house. His self-confidence in investigations, together with the desire to get to the truth immediately, break down as soon as the sentimental and private sphere is touched, with Imma trying to resist the court of the handsome Calogiuri (Alessio Lapice) trying not to bring into the family the frustrations and the authoritarian attitude that he exercises in his work. With its strengths and its (many) defects, Tataranni, created by the pen of Mariolina Venezia, he is a complex character who does not like to get lost in small talk but who prefers, for better or for worse, to go straight to the heart of the matter.

Imma like it because it is everything and the opposite of everything: charismatic and impulsive, rough and straight on the verge of offense, intelligent and deeply human. Not to mention his own quirky looks which would be suitable for any context other than a crime scene (although, let’s face it, a pair of yellow suede boots make their mark). After Montalbano, Rai1 finally has a new character capable of captivating the public and a great actress like Vanessa Scalera, who until two years ago was an unknown and now, with her unmistakable face, has become a star of rare size (for those who have not seen her in theArminuta, we advise you to recover as soon as possible), as a guarantee for a successful series. It will also be for this reason that Rai has decided not to immediately burn all the cartridges, breaking up the second season of Imma Tataranni – Deputy Prosecutor in two tranches: 4 episodes starting October 26, 2021 and 4 more in 2022. Because Imma doesn’t do it under Dorothy’s green shoes, and it’s better to understand it right away.
