Impressive images of a rare phenomenon in Istanbul: A huge cloud plunged the city into darkness

A rare natural phenomenon “hit” her Constantinople the previous days. A cloud about 7 kilometers thick covered the city’s sky on Tuesday (April 18) and plunged it into darkness for about 5 minutes.

Many videos of the phenomenon were posted on social media and the images went around the world.

“One 7 km thick cloud passed over Istanbul. The sun disappeared for five minutes and day turned into night. Some talked about “Apocalypse” image“, the Turkish meteorological forum HAVA said in a post on Twitter, which was also accompanied by the relevant video.

CNN TÜRK meteorologist Orhan Şen, speaking about the phenomenon, said: “It is a very dangerous cloud. The thickness of this cloud is very large. It can reach from 2 kilometers to 16. The reason the sky is dark is that sunlight does not pass through such a thick cloud. This cloud is called “Charlie Bravo Cloud”».
