Huge ash clouds that reached 1,000 meters in height erupted on Thursday from volcano Shinabung in Sumatra, Indonesia.
Smoke and ash came out of the volcano today and erupted in the air, with ash clouds traveling up to 3 kilometers southeast.
No casualties have been reported so far, according to the Associated Press. Residents were advised to stay 5 km from the crater, while the danger of lava erupting from the volcano was stressed.
The alarm level is at the second highest level, while the authorities are closely monitoring the activity of the volcano which has “awakened” in recent weeks.
The 2,600-meter volcano has been active since last year. Earlier this month, threw ash into the sky at a height of 5 km.
Some 30,000 people have been forced to flee their homes in the area around Sinabung in recent years.
