In 2021, Wi-Fi will appear in every Russian school, but only for “verified content”

This year, all Russian schools will have the Internet and will be available to connect to it via Wi-Fi. This was stated by the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergei Kravtsov on the air of the news program “Vesti”.

According to the minister, school Wi-Fi will be configured to view only the so-called “verified”, that is, the content approved by the department. What information is prohibited and how the system of blocking it in schools will be built, he did not specify. But he noted that the Ministry of Education of Russia decided to take such a step, wishing to protect schoolchildren from negative information. Allegedly, such content is used for unscrupulous purposes, and this, according to the minister, is unacceptable.

According to the minister, in order to protect the younger generation from unsafe content on the Internet, a video communication system for schools called “Sphere” has been created, which is now being tested in several regions of the country. The ministry also creates verified verified content that can be used by teachers to deliver lessons.

As for the information that the Internet will be available in all domestic schools, regardless of location, Kravtsov said that this will happen before the end of this year. Moreover, urban schools will be able to count on a connection speed of at least 100 Mbit / s, while in settlements, villages and villages, the Internet speed will be half as much – 50 Mbit / s.
