In a diligence inside the Yanomami indigenous land, in Roraima, members of the Federal Police (PF) found information that an indigenous person from the community was killed and another was injured. The on-site investigations took place on Monday (6th), after the accusation that three indigenous people had been murdered by miners.
Sources told CNN that the police went to the place to investigate reports of indigenous deaths caused by miners. The agents then found that one indigenous person was killed and another was wounded by a firearm.
Last Sunday (5), the Yanomami Urihi association, the Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (Coiab) and the Articulação dos Povos IndÃgenas do Brasil (Apib) denounced the death of three Yanomami indigenous people murdered by miners. One murder allegedly occurred in the Hamoxi region, within an area invaded by the mine, and two others in the Parima region, on the illegal airstrip of the Xiriana mine.
Also, according to the CNN Brazil , the main suspicion is that the death and injury were caused by miners. With regard to the dead, the body was not found. The injured man was taken to the hospital in Boa Vista, the state capital.
In a statement, the Health Secretariat of Roraima reported that a Yanomami indigenous man was admitted to the Rubens de Souza Bento General Hospital last Monday night. The patient was injured after being shot by a firearm.
Still according to the organ note, the health status of the patient is stable.
