In a meeting with Alckmin, Xi Jinping says that China and Brazil have the same mentality

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin in Beijing this Friday (7).

Xi highlighted that China and Brazil are good friends who share the same vision and good partners who move forward hand in hand.

Noting that he and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) reached an important consensus on opening up new prospects for China-Brazil relations in the new era in April last year, Xi said the two sides, with Last year’s concerted efforts have deepened strategic mutual trust, advanced and closely coordinated practical cooperation on international occasions, which has not only promoted their respective development but also effectively safeguarded the common interests of developing countries.

Emphasizing that the world is undergoing profound changes unprecedented in a century, Xi said that China and Brazil share broad strategic interests as large developing countries and important emerging markets, adding that their relations go far beyond the bilateral scope and are of exemplary importance in promoting solidarity and cooperation among developing countries, as well as global peace and stability.

The two sides should understand the strategic nature of their bilateral relations, enhance the mutually beneficial nature of relations, highlight the comprehensiveness of relations and continue to carry out closer strategic coordination, so as to add new dimensions to China-Brazil friendship, Xi said .

China stands ready to work with Brazil with a pioneering spirit, make strategic plans for bilateral relations with a more forward-looking vision, clearly define the long-term objective of building a China-Brazil community with a shared future, fully play the role of the China-Brazil High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Committee, consolidate cooperation in traditional areas, expand cooperation in emerging areas such as green economy, digital economy and innovation, and strengthen the synergy of the Belt and Road Initiative with the Nova program Indústria Brasil, the Latin American Integration Route (RILA) and other development strategies, added the Chinese president.

China will take the opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its diplomatic ties with Brazil to comprehensively strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries’ legislatures, political parties, localities, culture, education, tourism, youth and other areas, so as to bring together more friendly forces and provide stronger support for China-Brazil cooperation, Xi said.

China supports Brazil in playing a more important role on the international stage, supports Brazil in organizing this year’s G20 Leaders’ Summit, and stands ready to maintain close communication with Brazil and other members of the Community of Latin American States and Caribbean (CELAC) to push for greater development of China-Latin America relations in the new era, Xi said.

Alckmin conveyed President Lula’s cordial greetings to Xi and said that the seventh meeting of the China-Brazil High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Committee (COSBAN), co-chaired by Alckmin and Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, in Beijing, on Thursday- fair (6), yielded positive results.

Describing China’s success in lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty as a miracle, Alckmin said the experience could provide important lessons for Brazil.

Highlighting that the Brazilian government is committed to inclusive and sustainable growth, Alckmin said that Brazil is willing to increase the synergy of development strategies with China, welcome more Chinese companies to invest in Brazil and strengthen cooperation in infrastructure construction, agriculture , mining, new energy vehicles, climate change and other domains.

Both Brazil and China are committed to defending multilateralism and free trade, share the same views on many important issues and enjoy enormous potential and broad prospects for cooperation, he added.

Brazil is willing to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as a new starting point and work with China to improve bilateral and multilateral strategic coordination, elevate bilateral relations to a new level and contribute to building a world more peaceful, fair and sustainable, said Alckmin.
