The official trailer for “Wicked”, which features the first meeting between Glinda (Ariana Grande) and Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) was released this Wednesday (15). Based on the Broadway musical of the same name, the images also feature other characters and excerpts from the famous songs “Popular” and “Defying Gravity”.
In addition to the aforementioned protagonists, a strong cast will be present in the adaptation. This is the case with Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum and more. Meet part of the cast of “Wicked” below.
Ariana Grande
Despite being known for her work in music and for her hits like “thank u, next” and “Dangerous Woman”, Ariana Grande has already worked in the film industry.
Even before entering the music business, Ariana became known for playing the character Cat in the series “Brilhante Victoria” and “Sam & Cat”. Over the years, the artist was also present in the cast of “Não Olhe Para Cima” (2021) and “Hairspray Live!” (2016).
Cynthia Erivo
The British actress and songwriter gained notoriety with her Broadway debut in 2015 with the musical “The Color Purple”. The following year, she even won a Tony – an award that praises North American theater productions – for her performance in the play.
Furthermore, she already has a remarkable experience in cinema, in films such as “Harriet – The Road to Freedom” (2019) and the live-action “Pinocchio” (2022).
Michelle Yeoh
The Oscar-winning actress will play Madame Morrible, the director of Shiz University. Of Malaysian origin, the artist became known internationally for her work in “The Tiger and the Dragon” (2000).
However, more recently, she stood out for her work in “Everything in Every Place at the Same Time” (2022), in which she won an Oscar statuette and won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy Film.
Jonathan Bailey
The British actor recently became known for his role as Anthony in the Netflix period series “Bridgerton”. However, last month, it was announced that he will also join the cast of the third season of “Heartstopper”.
Jonathan, who will play the carefree Prince Fiyero in “Wicked”, is still the protagonist of the one-season thriller, “Travelling Companions”, released in 2023.
Jeff Goldblum
Considered a pop culture icon, the American actor will bring the legendary Wizard of Oz to life in the film. In his career, he was present in several films that were box office successes, such as the “Jurassic Park”, “Independence Day” and “The Fly” franchises.
One of his latest works was the release of “Asteroid City” in 2023.
In addition to the names mentioned, it is worth adding that Tony-nominated actor Ethan Slater (Broadway's SpongeBob) will play Boq, a selfless Munchkin student, and Marissa Bode will make her film debut as Nessarose, Elphaba's favorite sister.
The cast of characters also includes Pfannee and ShenShen, two of Glinda's complicit compatriots, played by Emmy-nominated actress Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James (“Harlots”).
A new character was also created for the film, Miss Coddle, who will be played by Tony-nominated actress Keala Settle (“The Greatest Showman”).

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jon M. Chu (“Really Rich,” “Wicked” is the first chapter of an immersive two-part cultural celebration. “Wicked: Part Two” is set to open in theaters on November 26, 2025.
