The film “Moana 2” premiered in theaters this Thursday (28) and a new feature film in the franchise is already making waves. One live-action of the plot this scheduled to debut in 2026 and some information has already been announced, to the delight of fans.
After giving his voice to the demigod Maui in both animated films, the actor Dwayne Johnson known as The Rock, will play the character in the new production. Last week, some images of the actor, in character, were released on social media.
To the Entertainment Tonight portal, he even gave details about his characterization and mentioned that he has already finished recording his part as the character. “We put a lot of time and effort into my body, my hair, my tattoos. I finished my part two days ago. I hope everyone likes it.”
The person responsible for The title role, in turn, will be actress Catherine Laga’aia 18. Born in Sydney, Australia, this will be her first prominent role. Previously, the actress made a small appearance in the series “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart.”
John Tui has also been confirmed as Chief Tui, Frankie Adams as Sina and Rena Owen as Gramma Tala. The film will be directed by Thomas Kail and is scheduled to debut only on the day July 10, 2026 .
