In Alta CNN: 5 content in streaming to understand the conflict in Ukraine

Em Alta CNN made a special list to help you better understand the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Below we indicate five contents of the streams that explain how this tension grew until we reached the invasion of Ukraine by the Vladimir Putin government:

1 – The Shadow of Stalin – Netflix

The first tip shows how this fight between Ukraine and Russia is not new. In 1933, Welsh reporter Gareth Jones travels clandestinely to the Soviet Union in order to investigate the then-successful economic of the government of Josef Stalin. However, when he got there, he came across a realm of horror, cold, hunger and death.

2 – Chernobyl – HBO Max

Chernobyl tells the story of the explosion that happened at the Nuclear Power Plant that gives its name to the work. In 1986, in Ukraine, the accident decimated dozens of people and turned out to be the biggest nuclear disaster in history. As the world mourns what happened, scientist Valery Legasov (Jared Harris), physicist Ulana Khomyuk (Emily Watson) and Vice President of the Council of Ministers Boris Shcherbina (Stellan Skarsgård) try to discover the causes of the accident.

This Thursday (24), according to Ukrainian authorities, the Russian army took control of an area near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

3 – Lord of Arms – Amazon Prime Video

Yuri orlov (Nicolas Cage) is an arms dealer who conducts business in the most varied places on the planet. He ends up becoming a millionaire taking advantage of the end of the Cold War, the collapse of the Soviet Union and the growth of international terrorism to do business in all parts of the world. Meanwhile, Yuri always tries to stay one step ahead of Jack Valentine (Ethan Hawke), an Interpol agent, as well as his competitors and even clients, among whom are some of the most famous dictators on the planet.

4 – Winter on Fire (documentary) – Netflix

The 2015 documentary, nominated in the Best Documentary category at the 2016 Oscars, follows a peaceful student demonstration in Ukraine that turned into 93 days of a revolution in the country’s civil rights struggle.

5 – Extra! War in Ukraine – Petit Journal Podcast
