At the “On High CNN” which aired this Saturday (23), Mari Palma and Philipe Siani interviewed the directors of the documentary “Brutal Pact – The Murder of Daniella Perez”, by HBO Max Tatiana Issa and Guto Barra.
The production tells the story of the death of actress Daniella Perez and unravels the judgment of the case, which ended with the conviction of fellow actor and recording partner, Guilherme de Pádua, and his partner, Paula Thomaz.
The directors’ objective with the documentary was to bring the truth behind a case that had media coverage and focused on the versions of the killers.
To escape what had already been done, the directors had the help of Gloria Perez mother of the artist and author of the soap opera in which Daniella played opposite Pádua, for the construction of the documentary.
Despite not having any official involvement in the production of the work, the playwright contributed by giving access to her personal collection on the case.
“For us, as documentary filmmakers, it was a gift to be able to enter this story with such a rich collection that Glória had built up over the years. In addition to all the documents of the process, all the testimonies, everything very complete, she had recordings that she made with the witnesses”, revealed Barra.
The director also said he was impressed with the director’s performance during the investigations of the crime and added that, without Glória’s participation, the outcome of the trial might have been different.
“What most caught your attention [durante a produção] was the role that Gloria Perez played during the case. She played a very important and very accurate role in realizing that if she didn’t get involved with the investigations from day one, things might not go as they should,” Guto pointed out.
