NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte announced today that Turkey will host the next alliance summit on July 7-8, 2026, in Ankara. The meeting will be hosted in the Bestepe Presidential Group. In his announcement, Route thanked Turkey for the hospitality of this “important session”. He also noted that “at our next meeting, leaders will continue to build a stronger and fairer alliance” that will be ready “to respond to the critical challenges of our security”. This year’s Summit was hosted in June in The Hague, the Netherlands, and NATO member states pledged to increase their defense spending to 5% of their GDP by 2035. Turkey had hosted NATO Summit in 2004 in Constantinople.
