In bed with Sartre: the exclusive clip of the new comedy with Vanessa Paradis

It is an ironic and light comedy In bed with Sartre, the new film directed by Samuel Benchetrit with an exceptional cast ranging from François Damiens to Vanessa Paradise, up to our Valeria Bruni Tedeschi. Presented at the latest edition of the Cannes Film Festival, the film, available in cinemas from January 26, sees at the center a bizarre group of characters grappling with the therapeutic power of poetry, theater and love. In fact, their stories intertwine and collide in different ways, giving life to an ensemble comedy based on the theme of tenderness.

«Let’s say it’s an absurd and poetic comedy», declares the director of In bed with Sartrewho has always been fascinated by films in which stories unexpectedly intertwine, «with tough boys who become tender, seized by a tenderness that surpasses them». In bed with Sartre tells exactly this, along with the importance of art, beauty and poetry as remedies against the loneliness and harshness of the contemporary world. The path traveled is not, however, that of tribute for its own sake, but of sarcasm and witty jokes, capable of revealing to the viewer that, in the end, even the tough ones have a heart.

Jeff, a small local boss who tries to seduce a cashier by writing her as questionable as poignant love poems, knows it well, but also his loyalists Jésus and Poussin who, between one philosophical reflection and another, help the boss’s teenage daughter to bring the boy she likes so much, and, even more, Jacky, two-bit henchman who falls in love with an aspiring stage actress who decides to conquer at any cost, even playing alongside him in a play on the sex life of Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir. Laughter and sweetness guaranteed.
