In Beijing on a “peace mission” after Orban’s controversial visit to Moscow

After his controversial visit to Moscow, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced today via X that he would arrive in Beijing as part of what he called a “peace mission”. “Peace mission 3.0,” he said – without further elaboration – above a photo of him in front of a Hungarian Air Force Falcon jet as he is greeted with a smile by Chinese diplomatic spokeswoman Hua Chunying. China’s foreign ministry said in a separate statement that the Hungarian leader, whose country holds the rotating EU presidency, would meet with President Xi Jinping later in the day to discuss “matters of mutual interest”.
