According to investigators, in 2024, two criminals, introducing themselves as electricians, penetrated the apartment of a resident of Minsk, and for several hours tortured a victim, threatening a pneumatic gun.
The defendants put on handcuffs on the man and hit him several times by a stouter shker, demanding to transfer 5,750 BTC to them, but the victim refused to fulfill their requirements. As a result, the attackers tied him and gave him a day to think, after which they disappeared.
According to the deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Prosecutor General of Belarus, Kirill Chubkovts, law enforcement agencies were able to detain one of the attackers, and the second managed to hide abroad.
In addition to the prison term, the convicted person was assigned a fine of 500 basic units (21,000 Belarusian rubles). The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed.
Earlier in Paris, three men in masks attacked a woman – daughter of the general director of the cryptocurrency trading platform. The attackers tried to force the woman and her child into a cargo van.
