On September 7, 1922 – on the centenary of the Independence of Brazil – the first radio broadcast in the country took place.
In these 100 years of the vehicle in the country, professor, broadcaster and Master in Radio History, Pedro Vaz highlighted the power of transformation and importance of radio.
“Radio has been changing with technology, which is evolving and the vehicle has been following along, it is a means of accessible language”, he said, in an interview with CNN Radio.
The expert joked that transmissions will exist “as long as we have ears and mouths”: “We have been in the air for more than 100 years and we will have 200 and 300.”
One of the most important issues, for him, is accessibility for the visually impaired, with descriptive language.
“The language of radio for those who write is useful for TV and other media, but the opposite does not fit, the richness of the description is important”, he added.
Pedro Vaz sees the possibilities of social networks as important additions to the transformations of radio.
“It will rely on the help of other means, such as complements, such as podcasts, we will add sound possibilities, radio has a long life”, he added.
The process of elaborating radio journalism materials, of observing the fact, finding out, checking, writing the text, working on facilitating understanding and carrying it forward, for the teacher, will continue in this way forever.
