The volume of stolen funds in the first half of 2024 increased by almost $ 2.4% compared to 2023, including $ 75 million associated with the Dark Angels hackers grouping.
At the same time, a significant decrease in payments for extortion in the second half of the year led to a reduction in the total amount of income, analysts at CHAINALYSIS noted:
“It has become more difficult for attackers to wash the illegally received income due to sanctions against the Russian exchange of Cryptex and blocking the German authorities of servers 47 crypto-rhizas working without compliance with the legislation on checking the personality of customers.”
The gap between the payments required by the attackers and the amounts sent to them is growing – the victims that pay to the extortionists, send less and less funds compared to the requirements of criminals, and experts summed up.
