The information that Xiaomi is preparing its own branded car has been known for a long time, but so far there have been very few specifics. Now, Chinese insiders / journalists have shed light on the manufacturer’s first car, and also managed to photograph it, apparently a prototype, disguised for open testing in urban areas.
A fresh leak confirms the previous ones and adds new information – it also indicates that Xiaomi’s first electric car will be a mid-size sedan. It is expected to be available in two versions: with a 400V platform and a LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery, and an 800V platform with a CATL Kirin battery. Both will be equipped with new smart chips from Qualcomm and NVIDIA (Orin X series).
According to insiders, the base model of the electric car will cost from $38,000, while the upgraded version will start at $51,000. But, most likely, these prices are indicated for the Chinese market.
- To the point: Do not compare car prices in China and Russia – they are two different universes
If you believe the latest information, the start of mass production is scheduled for 2024, but the presentation will take place as early as 2023.
