In Emily in Paris 2 there will be more inclusiveness and diversity in the cast

Emily in Paris has garnered hundreds of thousands of fans since Netflix decided to include it in its offering, but it also received more than a few criticisms, mainly due to the representation of certain clichés, linked to a superficial vision of Paris and of the French, and to the lack of diversity within the cast.

The new season will be out on December 22, so it’s questionable if anything has changed.

As he told Lily Collins in an interview, as soon as the writers and producers got to work for the new episodes, they kept in mind that inclusiveness had to be the pivot around which to build the new episodes: “We chose new characters to represent in front of the camera and we gave them very specific narrative lines precisely because we wanted to change this aspect”.

To confirm this new modus operandi was also the other protagonist of the series, Lucas Bravo: «I agree: we have brought to the screen a lot of clichés, not taking into account that Paris is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world: people of different nationalities, ethnicities, religions, orientations coexist and we cannot afford not to represent them worthily. One life is not enough to get to know Paris, but at least we have to try ».

The second series will be set between the French capital and the Cote d’Azur, especially a Saint Tropez. Emily will have her old friends by her side, but she will also meet new people, especially those of the European jet set. Given the premises we can’t wait to find out what the future new entries are and what stories they will have. For sure, they will represent much better the many facets of a city as complex and varied as Paris.
