The State Department of Foreign Drain Hong Kong said that bitcoin and ether holders can use assets to confirm capital when applying for an investment visa.

The new initiative is designed to attract wealthy investors and traders to the region. To obtain an investment visa, it is necessary that the applicants confirm the possession of net assets worth at least 30 million Hong Kong dollars ($ 3.85 million) for a certain period, the department said.

The representative of the department noted that there are no strict requirements for the type of digital assets, but the certificate accountant should sign the assessment report. In addition, after receiving the visa, the applicant is obliged to invest the same amount – 30 million Hong Kong dollars – in “permitted assets”.

Earlier, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange Hong Kong Exchange and Clearing (HKEX) announced the launch of the index for prices of the largest cryptocurrency capitalization – bitcoin and ether. The index will become a “reliable guideline for a fast -growing class of assets.”
