In inauguration, new president says she wants to make Caixa the “mother of women’s causes”

In an inaugural speech, economist Daniella Marques said this Tuesday (5th) that she is coming to the command of Caixa Econômica Federal to “write a new chapter” and that she intends to improve the internal environment of the state bank.

The economist takes office after her predecessor, Pedro Guimarães, resigned in the context of allegations of sexual harassment against employees of the banking institution.

“I make my commitment that all necessary measures will be taken, that I have full support for everything to be investigated and clarified”, he said, according to a video obtained by the CNN .

The new president also said that there are “numerous visible and invisible barriers imposed on women” in the labor market and wants to transform the state bank into the “mother of women’s causes”.

“The commitment I make today is that we are going to guarantee the best environment we can,” he said. “Our wide service network will help implement policies that address the disclosure of reporting channels, domestic violence reporting and combating any type of harassment”, he added.

The economist recalled that, today in the country, one in four women is a victim of domestic violence and stressed that the state bank will help women both to file complaints and to obtain financial freedom.

The economist until then held the position of special secretary for Productivity and Competitiveness at the Ministry of Economy, to which she was appointed on February 2, 2022.

She has been a member of the federal government since 2019, when she was appointed head of the Special Advisory for Strategic Affairs of Minister Paulo Guedes.

She holds a degree in business administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ) and an MBA – postgraduate degree – in finance from the Brazilian Institute of Capital Markets (Ibmec).

According to the Ministry of Economy, she worked for 20 years in the financial market, in the area of ​​independent management of investment funds. Marques was also a founding partner and director of investment funds.
