Hundreds of coffins with human remains from a cemetery located on the cliff of the resort town of Camogli near Genoa fell into the sea.
The landslide also destroyed two chapels, which were also washed into the water.
Cemetery workers witnessed the collapse. As noted, brigades of divers, boats of the coast guard and firemen arrived at the scene – they fished about 200 coffins from the sea.

Camogli Mayor Francesco Olivar called the incident an incredible disaster and added that it is almost impossible to predict this kind of landslides.
