The situation in the state of Minas Gerais in relation to dengue is increasingly critical. It remains the state with the highest number of probable dengue cases across the country.
According to information from the Arbovirus Case Monitoring Panel, from the State Department of Health, in just 24 hours, 10 more deaths were confirmed. This brings the number of deaths from the disease to 36.
The cities where these deaths occurred were Betim, Conselheiro Lafaiete, Contagem, Matheus Leme, Morro da Graça, Patos de Minas, Santa Luzia, Sobrália and Belo Horizonte.
In addition to the 36 confirmed deaths, there are another 155 deaths under investigation. The number of confirmed cases has reached more than 93 thousand and another 260 thousand cases are being investigated.
Women continue to be the majority with 54.5% of cases. Men represent 45.14% of positive diagnoses. The most affected age groups are people aged 20 to 29 and 30 to 39 years old.
According to the State Department of Health, this is already considered the worst dengue epidemic year in the state. Minas Gerais has already experienced four other epidemics of the disease, in 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019.
In addition to Belo Horizonte, another 47 municipalities in Minas Gerais have declared a dengue emergency.
