Canon appears to have discontinued or is discontinuing the production of lenses for DSLRs. The source said that in the period from January 8 to February 10, that is, in just a month, the number of Canon EF mount lens models on the Japanese website of the company decreased from 21 to 9.

Back in 2018, the Nikkei reported that Canon was switching to mirrorless cameras. As the largest manufacturer of DSLRs, the company feared it would undermine their sales by focusing on mirrorless models and was therefore in no hurry to do so, but decided to take the step anyway, apparently after analyzing the dynamics of the industry.
In early 2020, a spokesperson for Canon Europe announced that the company had stopped developing lenses for SLR cameras and intended to focus on lenses for mirrorless cameras.
