The first was opened in the factory where railway wagons and trams were once produced in Milan Beefeater Lounge Bar of the world. We are inside the Fabbrica del Vapore, in the room Steam 1928 which inaugurated over the weekend a corner dedicated to Beefeater, the famous London gin brand (complete with an impressive bottle holder behind the counter) with una drink list speciale of only three cocktails including (in addition to the classic Gin Tonic) the Fresh Basil Smash (50 ml of Beefeater, 25 ml of lemon juice, 10 ml of agave syrup, 2.5 ml of EVO oil and two basil leaves as a garnish), all for 8 euros.
And then, there is a gem: to sterilize and at the same time freeze the Gin Tonic cup (and therefore allow you to enjoy a cocktail at the perfect temperature for a longer time) here is an ad hoc machine that freezes the glass in a few seconds. “It is probably the first machine of this type that we see in a cocktail bar in Milan,” he says Ugo Minerva, among the owners of Vapore 1928.
Developed on two floors, it has a large outdoor area. In addition to the Beefeater signature cocktails, here you will always find a selection of signature drinks developed by Mattia Venegoni (such as the Frida paloma, a twist of the Paloma with Tequila Altos Plata, cranberry juice, lime socco, agave syrup and soda), a wide variety of tapas (including octopus alla gallega with spiced potatoes and paprika for 8 euros and the veal in tuna sauce with capers from Pantelleria and baked potatoes for 9 euros). Part of the menu is then dedicated to the spirits available for tasting and a good choice of wines by the glass and by the bottle. And for those who love sweets, there are salted caramel cheesecake (4.50 euros) and tiramisu (4.50 euros), as well as fruit salad (3.50 euros).
