This is the first official visit of the Speaker of the House of Commons to Cyprus, which is a milestone in the inter-parliamentary relations between Cyprus and the United Kingdom. At 10:00, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Communities will be received by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis, at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia and will have separate meetings with the Speaker of the Cypriot Parliament, Annita Dimitriou, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Kasoulidis and the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, Haris Georgiadis and members of the Committee.
The Speaker of Parliament will host a formal dinner in honor of her British counterpart.
According to an announcement by the Parliament of Cyprus, the British official will address the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives in a special meeting of the House, today, at 16:00, at the “Hospitality” Conference Center. He will also participate, together with the Speaker of Parliament, in a round table discussion with female and university students on “Parliament and Democracy: Parliamentary Transparency in Practice”.
During his visit, Sir Lindsay Hoyle will visit, with Mrs. Demetriou, the walled city of Nicosia and the British UNFICYP unit, as well as the area of ​​the Diocese and Cape Bases.
