North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met for less than two weeks today by Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Soigu as part of a new visit to Pyongyang, according to the Russian Agency Interfax. “Soyigu arrived at Pyongyang following a special mandate by Russian President Vladimir Putin for talks with North Korean officials in the context of agreements concluded during his previous visit on June 4,” the press office said. According to the same source, the conversations between Kim and Soigo have begun. Kim and Putin had signed a treaty of strategic cooperation last year during a visit by the Russian president to North Korea, which included a mutual defense agreement.
