In one month, moving average of Covid cases increases by 163%

Brazil recorded 96 deaths and 50,272 infections by Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to data from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass), released this Monday (20).

With this, the moving average of cases, which considers the last seven days, reached 36,775. This number represents an increase of 163% in the period of one month.

For comparison purposes, on May 20 the indicator was at 13,953.

Conass also reported that the moving average of deaths stood at 140.

These numbers allow monitoring of the country’s epidemiological situation without possible distortions caused by possible underreporting on weekends or problems in accessing databases.

With the new update, the country has 669,161 fatalities from the disease and 31,754,465 infections by Covid.

In the 24th epidemiological week, which considers between June 12 and 18, 248,365 Covid infections were reported.

4th dose for people over 40 years old

The Ministry of Health expanded, this Monday (20), the recommendation for the second booster dose against Covid-19 for people aged 40 and over, who started the vaccination schedule with Coronavac, Pfizer or AstraZeneca.

The orientation of the Ministry of Health is that the immunization is done with the vaccines of Pfizer, AstraZeneca or Janssen, after the interval of four months of the application of the first booster. With the inclusion of this age group, approximately 9 million people should be vaccinated again.
