The draft law on the strengthening of the country’s defense shield, with the contracts for the upgrading of the operational capabilities of the Navy and the Air Force, was introduced to the Committee on Foreign Affairs and National Defense.
The draft law includes:
– Contracts for the supply of FDI HN type frigates and their equipment and their subsequent support.
– The contract for the supply of guided missiles of FDI HN frigates, with related equipment and services, including their subsequent support.
– The contract for the supply and subsequent support of heavy type combat torpedoes for the Greek submarines.
– The amendment of the dispute settlement agreement between the Hellenic Republic, THYSSENKRUPP MARINE SYSTEMS and HELLENIC SHIPYARDS SA.
– The approval of contracts for the additional supply of “RAFALE” type fighter aircraft and their subsequent support.
At today’s meeting of the committee in principle (s.s. will be followed by two more meetings next Monday, with a hearing of bodies and discussion on the articles), the parties were positioned as follows:
ND, the Movement for Change and the Hellenic Solution were in favor of the bill.
SYRIZA has reservations about its final stance in the Plenary Session. MERA25 also stated a reservation for the Plenary Session.
The KKE opposes the contracts for frigates and Rafale, but declares “present” in the supply of torpedoes.
