In prison for 35 years the most “dreaded narco-terrorist of Colombia” Don Mario

A New York court sentenced yesterday (17/10) to 35 years in prison and a fine of 45 million dollars to the Colombian baron of drugs Daniel Redon Herrera known as “Don Mario”

The 57-year-old once leader of a far-right paramilitary organization he pleaded guilty last year. Among other things, he was charged with importing into American territory tens of tons of cocaine.

The court sentenced him to 35 years in prison for participating in criminal activities in his capacity leader of the Clan del Golfo, the most powerful drug cartel in Colombia.

He was also sentenced to 15 years in prison for “consisting and conspiring to provide material support to a terrorist organization, the United Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC),” a far-right paramilitary organization that transformed into the Klan, the Justice Department statement said. The two sentences will be merged, the same img clarified according to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency cited by AFP.

“Today (i.e. yesterday Monday) ended the criminal career of Redon Herrera”, the “once most feared narco-terrorist in Colombia“, assured US Attorney Brian Peace, always according to the press release of the Ministry of Justice.
