In Rio de Janeiro, Gastronomy without Borders festival wins second edition in July

O Gastronomy Without Borders an event that seeks to explore culinary flavors from different parts of the world, will win its second edition at Rio de Janeiro. It will take place over two weekends of July (7th to 9th and 14th to 16th) at Fashion Mall, in São Conrado.

Curated by the chef Elia Schramm, Babbo’s Osteria , a strong team will be responsible for preparing dishes that seek to make a cultural exchange and honor countries like Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Belgium, Thailand, Japan, besides, of course, Brazil.

“The Gastronomy Without Borders event is a pleasure that I have, for the second consecutive year, to curate. And it is very exciting to see that the festival has grown and has new participants. I’m sure it will be an even more incredible edition than the first, which was surrounded by dear friends and great professionals in the field”, says Elia.


Debuting at the event, the Pimenta Winery from the chef William Guedes will represent Germany, with Currywurst with rustic potatoes or sauerkraut (R$ 35), Dogão Alemão (R$ 30) and meat croquettes (R$ 20 – two units).

already the Cam O’n Thai Food from the chef Ana Carolina Garcia , will bring delicacies from Thailand such as fried wontons stuffed with ground pork loin and Thai seasonings (R$ 29 – six units); pork ribs in salted caramel sauce, pickled red pepper, fried garlic and coriander (R$35) and crispy shrimp breaded in coconut and Panko flour (R$37 – six pieces).

O Didier Restaurante from the chef Didier Labbé in turn, will offer dishes of French cuisine. Henrietta from the chef Carlos Gleyson will represent Portugal, and the ruda from the chef Danilo Parah will be responsible for honoring Brazil, with five dish options, including oxtail rice, octopus with jambu and cheese pie.

The lineup is completed by names that were in the first edition: Babbo Osteria (Italy), from Elia Schramm ; Frederic Epicerie (Belgium) from the chef Frederic de Maeyer ; Venga Tapas Bar (Spain), from Juliana Kegler , QuiQui (RJ/Brazil) of Francisco Nobrega It is Jappa da Greengrocer (Japan), from Patrick Szklarz.

At the Gastronomia sem Fronteiras bar, the public will have a varied menu of drinks available, with beer and wine labels representing different countries. Classic drinks, such as Gin Tonic (England), Aperol (Italy) and Carajillo (Spain), as well as original drinks by the mixologist little stove can be tasted

During the six days of the festival, visitors will also have other activities on the agenda. The event promises more than 60 hours of experiences and content on gastronomy, in addition to lectures, debates and musical performances, children’s workshops and the Entrepreneurial Fair, an exhibition space for producers and entrepreneurs. Tickets for the second edition of Gastronomia Sem Fronteiras cost from R$ 30 (full price). Half price will also be available for those who bring 1 kg of non-perishable food. There is also an option of the ‘passport’, which guarantees entry to the three days of the event per weekend. It costs BRL 80 (whole) and BRL 40 (half).
