SberBank announced the release of the free AI Resp mobile application, which analyzes the sounds of a person’s breathing and coughing in a minute for the presence of patterns characteristic of COVID-19.
AI Resp app for Android and iOS is available for download on Google Play and App Store.
AI Resp was created by Sberbank’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory in cooperation with SberMedII, a member of the Sberbank ecosystem. The project was announced in January 2021. Since then, its underlying AI model has been trained on over 3,000 anonymized records of COVID-19 patients. As the developers promise, to date, the accuracy of the model has reached 82%.
The user can use the service at any time – for example, after feeling unwell, visiting a possible risk zone, or coming into contact with someone who is sick with COVID-19. For the application to work correctly, you need to record sounds according to the instructions.
The developers also emphasize that the application is not a diagnostic test and cannot replace classical laboratory tests, therefore, if symptoms of COVID-19 appear, you should consult a doctor.
App stores impose certain restrictions on the mention of COVID-19 by developers in the name, icon and description of applications, therefore, in the AI ​​Resp interface, we are talking about respiratory diseases in general. But it should be borne in mind that the model was trained on samples of breathing and coughing of patients with COVID-19 and is designed to determine the patterns characteristic of this particular disease.
