Experts believe that the ban on the supply of new imported cars and spare parts to them in Russia will lead to an increase in thefts in order to parse cars for spare parts. Earlier, many manufacturers, including Volkswagen, Skoda, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Rolls-Royce, announced the suspension of production and deliveries of cars to Russia due to the situation in Ukraine and problems with logistics.

According to the Avtostat agency, at the beginning of this year there were 45.5 million cars in the Russian Federation. The most widespread brand of the passenger car fleet is still the domestic LADA, which accounts for almost 30% or 13.5 million of such cars. Second place is occupied by the Japanese Toyota with 4.1 million cars. This is followed by the South Korean brands Hyundai and Kia, which each have 2.5 million cars. Nissan and Renault cars in Russia, 2.2 million units each. The top ten also included: Volkswagen (1.8 million units), Chevrolet (1.7 million units), Ford (1.4 million units) and Mitsubishi (1.3 million units).
